Marine Moms arrived at 5:30AM on Christmas day to visit the recruits at MCRD in San Diego. We visited four medical platoons this year. Each recruit received letters, candy and various items to boost their spirits. The recruits were given free time to visit with the Marine Mom Volunteers and each other while reading letters written by kids from all around the country.
The attitude of the recruits was very high, each having expectations of moving back to their training companies soon. There were a lot of happy people in the room!
The recruits had a special program prepared for the visitors this year. We were treated to a great program where each of the squads sang two Christmas carols to each other and the visitors. Some even went the extra mile and added a special solo or group act to their programs. There was even a special version of the twelve days of Christmas performed.
